Philosophy
Welcome to my philosophy webpage, where we will examine human thought from various perspectives. As a woman, I have often seen a lack of attention for women in philosophical history. When we look further, we discover inspirational people and women who challenged conventions and created philosophical concepts.
In ancient Greece, figures like Diotima challenged common beliefs about love and beauty. During the Roman Empire, women like Hypatia influenced philosophical thinking. Even in my home region of Veneto, Italy, there were notable female philosophers like Lucrezia Marinelli and Elena Cornaro Pisapia.
Their ideas, though sometimes overlooked, are important. They show us the strength and intelligence of women throughout history. Recognising their contributions enriches our understanding of philosophy. Philosophy isn’t just an academic subject; it’s a way to think critically and understand the world.
UNESCO commemorates World Philosophy Day every November, emphasising the importance of philosophy to people and cultures. Philosophy allows us to think about, debate, and understand different opinions. Thanks to philosophy, we may create a more tolerant and respectful society capable of overcoming current difficulties.
